Join Us for an Unforgettable Journey to Tanzania and Rwanda with Kittelson Charitable Foundation (KCF)

Experience the heart of East Africa while supporting education! In May 2026, KCF will lead a two-week trip to Tanzania and Rwanda to visit students sponsored by the Foundation, meet their teachers, school administrators, and parents, and explore opportunities for future sponsorships. This is a unique chance to see firsthand the impact of KCF’s work and to engage with local communities.

Trip Details (still subject to change):

Dates: May 16–30, 2026 (depart U.S. May 16, return May 30) Destinations:

• Mwanza, Tanzania: Our home base for several days as we visit high schools and meet students, parents, and teachers. Includes a visit to a village on Lake Victoria that is home to the students KCF is sponsoring in this part of Tanzania. These students are attending Secondary schools and are in the 15-18 age range.
• Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: From Mwanza we'll travel by air to Dar es Salaam where for several days we'll meet students at primary and secondary schools, visit the University of Dar es Salaam’s Civil Engineering Department, and enjoy local sights and shops. The students KCF is sponsoring in the Dar es Salaam region are of all ages between 5 and 20.
• Kigali, Rwanda: We'll travel by air from Dar es Salaam to Kigali, which will serve as the home base for the remaining days of our trip while we engage with KCF-sponsored students and families in Kigali and rural areas, plus optional sightseeing (examples include the Genocide Memorial, Lake Kivu, King’s Palace, and Nyungwe Forest). Primary, Secondary, and university schools will be visited since KCF-sponsored students in Rwanda are in all of these age ranges.

Estimated Cost: Approximately $5,000 per person (includes airfare, lodging, meals, and travel expenses). KCF will coordinate the trip logistics without charge and so your cost will be actual costs only—no added fees.

Optional Add-Ons:

• Serengeti Safari (Pre-Trip): Arrive May 10 or 11 for a 5-day guided safari in Serengeti and surrounding parks. Estimated additional cost: $3,000 (This is an estimate only; we are in the midst of obtaining actual quotations from tour guide providers and will provide a more accurate estimate as soon as we have it).
• Mountain Gorilla Trek (Post-Trip): Extend your stay by 1–2 days for a guided hike to see Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda. Estimated additional cost: $2,000.
